Overview
Under general supervision performs complex analyses on a variety of sample types, utilizing independent judgment to generate acceptable test results. Performs as lead by managing workflow, mentoring others and serving as a clinical and technical resource.
Key Responsibilities
Independently performs responsibilities of MLS I, MLS II and MLS III.
Leads quality improvement initiatives as a member of a multi-disciplinary patient care services team. Develops and leads efforts to improve regulatory compliance within and beyond the department.
Assists leadership team with interviewing, orienting, training and supervising. Provides input to leadership team for performance evaluations and corrective actions.
Collaborates with leadership in identifying gaps and opportunities for professional development and strategic organizational initiatives. Facilitates in creating a positive departmental culture.
Assists leadership in identification and resolution of complex clinical and operational issues.
Responsible for regulatory and accreditation agency preparation and participation.
Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences preferred; Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences or related field required or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with relevant experience required.
Experience: Five years of clinical laboratory experience required.
Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.
