A Day in the Life
A Site Reliability Engineer works with Our Development team and DevOps team to oversee the code releases, combining an understanding of both engineering and developing code. SRE's create and implement systems, analyze data and improve infrastructure architecture to improve the applications reliability and performance while a increasing productivity in the workplace by gaining efficiency through automation. They understand the software development lifecycle and have a clear understanding of various automation tools for automating monitoring.

We are looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented SRE Engineers who have experience supporting highly agile dev team. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have good verbal and written communication skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages

This position is onsite in Northridge, CA

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Deploy, automate, maintain, and manage AWS non-prod/prod systems


• Making sure AWS production systems are reliable, secure, and scalable


• Resolving problems across multiple application domains and platforms using system troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques


• Automating different operational processes by designing, maintaining, and managing tools


• Provide primary operational support and engineering for all Cloud and Enterprise deployments


• Incorporate the organizations platform security efforts by collaborating with the core engineering team


• Develop policies, standards, and guidelines that technical support teams can follow


• Ensure uptime of 99.99% and 99% quality of service (degradation)


• Ensure proper environment documentation

Technical Skills

• 
  Experience with AWS Cloud: Proficient in AWS services like EC2, CloudWatch, IAM, Lambda Functions, SNS, Firehose, SQS, CDN, WAF, CloudTrail, EventBridge, API Gateway, ALB, S3, Athena, etc.


• 
  ELK Stack: Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.


• 
  Containerization: Skilled in Docker, ECS, etc.


• 
  Scripting Languages: Proficient in Python, JavaScript, Bash scripting, etc.


• 
  Monitoring Tools: Experience with tools like New Relic, OpenSearch, Kibana, etc.


• 
  Dashboarding and Alerting: Capable of creating dashboards, setting up alerts, and automating API monitoring (synthetic monitoring).


• 
  Observability and Monitoring: Strong background in observability practices and monitoring.


• 
  Distributed Systems and Microservices: Experience working with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, etc.


• 
  Serverless Stacks: Understanding of serverless architecture and technologies.


• 
  Version Control: Deep knowledge of version control systems like Git.


• 
  Operating Systems: Sound knowledge of operating systems, particularly Linux.


• 
  CI/CD Implementation: Expertise in continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.


• 
  Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.


• 
  Automation Tools: Proficiency with configuration management and automation tools.


• 
  Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with various teams and stakeholders.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required and 2+ years of relevant experience


• or advanced degree with 0+ years of experience

• Experience in Medical devices domain


• 3+ years AWS experience


• Experience working on AWS platform and have working knowledge on general infrastructure services including knowledge on working on container platforms


• Development and testing skills


• Have a good knowledge on automation using programming languages like python


• Experience working in a large agile team


• Experience with using AWS Cloudformation, Terraform or other IaC tools


• Experience with CI/CD and should have familiarity with CI/CD tools like jenkins, GitLab


• Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$101,600.00 - $152,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
