McCarthy's Renewable Energy Business Unit is looking for a Preconstruction Manager to manage the preconstruction process for large utility-scale renewable energy projects throughout continental United States. Position Key Responsibility Summary:
Lead and provide support and oversight as appropriate with conceptual and detailed design process of renewable energy projects
Lead and provide support and oversight of procurement efforts for key equipment of solar plants with support of Preconstruction Director, i.e. Modules, Inverters, Transformers, Racking System including Piles and SCADA system
Lead a pursuit team to develop strategy and respond to RFPs from clients
Participate and contribute to renewable energy design reviews
Review of commercial and technical contract documents (i.e. Scope of Work, Testing, etc) to develop proposed edits, leads negotiation with client
Assist with negotiations of Performance Guarantees
Provide support to Business Development team as necessary to maintain relationships with existing client base.
Conduct site visits and inspection as necessary
Lead a pursuit team in the estimating of turnkey renewable energy projects, provide oversight to ensure timely completion and accuracy of estimates
Lead a pursuit team to ensure alignment internally and with 3rd parties (i.e. subcontractors, vendors, etc.) on scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements; document any clarifications.
Conduct reviews of milestone design documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities
Lead the final assembly of cost estimates for presentation to clients.
After the bid, collects and organizes all bid information for future reference
Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed
Directs, coordinates and provides information and documents to internal team for distribution to 3rd
Leads team in the development of scope of work documents for 3rd
Industry Knowledge / Relationships
Builds relationships with subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage for McCarthy
Attends industry events and represents McCarthy to the industry in a professional capacity
Builds and maintains relationships with internal McCarthy team and external clients
Keeps current with latest technology and techniques to improve McCarthy competitiveness in the marketplace
Demonstrates conceptual estimating skills by interpolating data
Questions designs and assumptions and presents value engineering ideas
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar and 3-5 years of equivalent experience required
General knowledge of construction principles and processes
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
General knowledge of estimating processes
Experienced with the development of complete proposals for client submission
Working knowledge of PV Syst, AutoCAD and other tools relevant to the solar industry
Strong math and analytical skills
Attention to detail
Solid interpersonal and communication skills
