Overview

The Creative Producer plays a pivotal role in OMCA’s digital strategy, by developing and guiding others in the creation of engaging and strategic video content. The Museum’s dynamic audio/visual content spans elevating in-gallery experiences, external marketing and communications, and institutional resources. In this position, you will work closely with cross functional teams to create media assets that are on brand, meet the stated objectives, and can be repurposed across multiple platforms when required.



Responsibilities

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help shape the strategic direction of OMCA’s digital engagement and content direction.
  • Inform and guide the work of the Video Producer to ensure work is aligned with our strategic direction.
  • Analyze past digital engagement programs to determine strengths and weaknesses that will guide future direction.
  • Work with cross functional teams to define and develop content strategy based on the OMCA brand including, but not limited to, editorial focus, editorial voice and distribution strategy.
  • Aid in shaping and defining the OMCA brand in collaboration with other creative leads and ensure content drives the OMCA brand forward and meets stated objectives.
  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Digital Strategy to oversee omni-channel distribution of all content and interpret the performance of those channels.
  • Lead the creation of, and manage, an institution-wide annual calendar for video projects.
  • Provide strong conceptual leadership in video. This includes creating fresh new concepts, as well as providing creative oversight to elevate concepts created by the Video Producer or other members of the team.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the Video Producer.
  • Create, produce and process original audio, video, and photo assets. Skills related to this task include:
  • Ability to set up field and studio lighting and audio/video recording equipment
  • Ability to conduct or partner with staff to conduct interviews
  • Video recording, editing and post production
  • Ability to take high quality photographs for use in exhibitions and marketing
  • Plan and perform video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, participating in editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing.
  • Program iPads to deliver in gallery audio/video content.
  • Advise and assist with prototyping and front end evaluation related to in-gallery media.
  • Research and advise on Museum best practices related to gallery and marketing web multimedia.
  • Understand rights and reproduction policy and work with OMCA staff to help secure rights.
  • Consult with other departments and teams on what technologies are needed to successfully meet their content needs.


Qualifications



EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to deliver results, facilitate and influence others and problem solve beyond temporary solutions
  • Ability to display and encourage visitor and internal customer service, take and share responsibility and treat others with respect
  • 5-7 years experience in marketing, documentary, or exhibition related video production
  • 1-2 years experience working within a brand
  • Demonstrated experience creating digital projects that work toward a larger goal or strategy
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are required
  • Able to identify and manage contractors and vendors
  • Provide guidance regarding cost estimates and budgeting
  • Experience developing annual institutional calendars and also detailed production schedules for video projects
  • Required experience in audio recording and editing, music selection, editing, mixing and mastering
  • Ability to create finished motion graphic and illustration assets to be used alone or as part of a video asset
  • Knowledge of emerging formats, software, workflows, and playback systems for professional audio/video content
  • Knowledge of standards and formats for web-based media and design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional audio/video equipment, A/V compression and encoding
  • Advanced experience with non-linear video and audio editing software
  • MS Office (Word, Excel), Google Apps,Smartsheet and Adobe Creative Suite
  • English language proficiency in both spoken and written form

  • Ability to travel between OMCA locations, and other travel as required by position responsibilities.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires strenuous physical work including lifting, pushing and pulling.
