Determine shipping methods to meet production requirements using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates to include International Shipping, freight and small packages
Prepare necessary documents to route shipments.
Assemble & pack metalwork orders for dispatch.
Deliver or collect to/from customers when required.
Keep current with all aspects of shipping vendors' software on computer which includes e-mail notifications, international paperwork.
Physically receive and accurately book in all incoming material deliveries on IQMS system supporting Materials Controller and Purchasing
Perform incoming material inspections/quality checks when required
Inventory stock regularly.
Able to respond to customer demand through personal commitment when required
Check items to be shipped against sales or work orders to ascertain quantities, destinations, documentation and routing are correct.
Contact carriers to make arrangements and issue instructions for both shipping and delivery of products.
Help trace, track and provide proof of deliveries when needed.
Be proficient with carriers web sites, processes and documentation
Create labels for shipments.
Label, band, wrap and palletize shipments for safe shipping. Load & unload trucks when necessary.
Follow policies, procedures and objectives for continuous quality improvement and manufacturing health and safety guidelines. Identify and eliminate safety hazards.
Perform miscellaneous job-related project duties as assigned.
Support the Quality System, Environmental Registrations and Lean Manufacturing, if applicable
Ensure that Health and Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times, taking all possible steps to ensure a safe working environment.
Attend training sessions, internal and external meetings as required.
To undertake any other reasonable request within your skill and competence
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to operate in a high speed environment
Background in Lean Manufacturing operations
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Can involve lifting up to 25kgs or 50 lbs.
Microsoft Office knowledge.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Current US driving license
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree preferred.
Two or more years' experience in shipping and/or receiving
