This role will assist in various functions of direct tax (i.e. income tax compliance, tax accounting) and indirect tax (i.e. sales and use, property, gross receipts). This individual will have exposure to senior tax leadership and will work cross-functionally with Accounting, Treasury and other groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed direct tax and indirect tax returns and workpapers as required to support direct and indirect tax compliance and accounting activities
Contribute to the reporting commitments of the direct and indirect tax functions to its various stakeholders and internal customers
Identify process improvements (reporting, template creation, standard work) to streamline the work of our direct and indirect tax teams
Perform basic research and technical analysis into tax issues
Assist in maintaining documentation of internal controls under SOX 404 to ensure adequate reviews are completed and maintained within the company's tax function
Perform month end accounting tasks as assigned to ensure complete, proper & accurate general ledger close in timely manner and all accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Vertiv policies and procedures
Assist in completion of special projects and ad-hoc analyses
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Intern candidate must be entering either their Junior or Senior year for a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
Required experience working with Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient with MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Ability to apply critical thinking to solve unique problems and make sound judgments
Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teaming skills
Profoundly inquisitive with the desire to consistently exceed expectations
Self-starter and motivator, ability to remain focused and on task with limited direction

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
