This Senior Custom Manufacturing Associate is part of the Synthetic Biology value stream located in Coralville, IA and will work on-site. At IDT, we are one global team. We celebrate our differences, engage in healthy debate, and are inclusive. Together, we accomplish great things.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Be responsible for planning and execution of orders that fall outside of standard manufacturing processes. Lead validation of equipment and processes.
Create and execute/guide execution of customized solutions to meet specific customer requirements including developing, automating, and implementing novel processes and products within IDT. Make decisions and be accountable for planned path.
Collaborate both cross functionally within IDT and with customers external to IDT to ensure proper completion of complex and specialized projects for key opinion leaders and high value customers. You will have a deep knowledge of current techniques and use that knowledge to drive success for our customers and business.
Independently evaluate new methods, technologies, and processes that could improve, streamline, or reduce costs of production workflows.
Manage projects to ensure customer satisfaction and on time delivery.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related science field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree or higher in a synthetic biology related field highly desired.
Minimum of five years wet lab research using nucleic acids (cloning, PCR, NGS, CRISPR or similar) required.
Strong background in molecular biology techniques such as synthetic biology applications, gene synthesis, molecular cloning, enzymatic assays, PCR/qPCR, CRISPR genome editing and screening, and NGS.
Experience with lab automation and liquid handling and proficiency in data analysis required.
Ability to communicate successfully with colleagues and customers, requiring a high level of technical knowledge. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues with a wide range of skills and experience in different fields.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Basic knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Python or similar) preferred.
Comfortable with rapid changes in projects and goals and reprioritization of tasks as needed
Ability to probe skillfully and develop strategies for success even when detailed information or methods are lacking.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently with little direction from supervisors.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
