The Department of Orthopedics is currently seeking a temporary Radiologic Technologist to work in Miami, FL. The Radiologic Technologist 1 sees patients referred for radiological examinations and produces radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. An employee in this position operates with the goal of preventing patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.




CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:




  • Operates radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.




  • Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, video tape, and computer-generated information to determine whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.




  • Records thorough and accurate patient medical histories.




  • Explains procedures, observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan, monitors patients' conditions and reactions, and reports abnormal signs to a physician.




  • Positions and immobilizes patients on examining table.




  • Arranges imaging equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance.




  • Records, processes, maintains patient data and treatment records, and prepares reports.




  • Organizes examination rooms, ensuring that necessary equipment is ready for use.




  • Performs scheduled maintenance and minor emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.




  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.






Department Specific Functions




  • Ortho RT has the ability to independently operate digital x-ray machine, including pasting/stitching, DDR, and portable unit.




  • The ability to follow HIPPA guidelines.




  • Upload outside imaging to PACS.




  • Entering charges for exams completed.




  • Practice ALARA.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS




Education:


Associate degree in relevant field




Certification and Licensing:


Certification in relevant specialty or field




Experience:


Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.




  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.




  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.




  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
