Scope of Position:
The Outpatient Oncology Clinic is an ambulatory care facility that treats a patient population within the full range of cancer conditions. The Patient Access Intake Coordinator functions as the communicator of pivotal information for the integration of new patients to each service line. This incumbent coordinates appointment scheduling as directed by the physician's orders in an effort to streamline the patients care needs. The facility consists of Hematology/Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology Physicians, and their team of providers. Patients are seen Monday through Friday in our exam rooms and for chemotherapy. Expansion of hours and weekend coverage may be an operational necessity.
Position Summary:
The Patient Access Intake Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all the pertinent records and medical documentation (including imaging and pathology) have arrived prior to the patient's first appointment in an effort to promote positive patient-care outcomes. The incumbent involves the patient in directing his/her plan of care in a confidential, efficient, cost effective, and customer-focused manner. The incumbent will work as part of a team with other hospital disciplines to achieve timely, accurate and customer-satisfied outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Per CCS Requirements. High School Diploma or GED. PC knowledge and interpersonal, verbal and written communication and at least 1 year experience within a Patient Access department. Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in healthcare, insurance or physician practice preferred. Experience with, or knowledge of medical terminology desired. Medical terminology, ICD-10 diagnosis coding and third party reimbursement experience preferred. Ability to work in self-directed manner while interacting with consumers, physicians and all medical center faculty and staff. Familiarity with OSUMC and its entities preferred. Able to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment.
