SUMMARY
The Senior Research Associate 1, SOM (N) provides laboratory-based support for the University's research activities by tackling the more specialized and complex projects and experiments. Additionally, the incumbent leverages his/her expertise in training and mentoring department staff, students, and less experienced research associates.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Collects, analyzes, and presents research data.
Monitors and maintains relevant research databases to ensure accurate data entries. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
Participates in the publication of significant results to include authorship of scientific monographs.
Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in the field.
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
Warrants that department activities comply with applicable guidelines and regulations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
Identifies, recruits, and enrolls eligible patients or healthy control subjects onto specified Epidemiology research protocols.
Maintains current contact information for study participants and assists with tracing participants.
Administers questionnaires and self-report inventories to enrolled research participants.
Performs protocol-directed procedures under the supervision of the principal investigator and other study staff.
Organizes and maintains a system for monitoring subjects enrolled in longitudinal studies and ensuring the timely collection of data.
Prepares and organizes data to promote efficient computer entry.
Participates in the consent process as guided by institutional policy.
Assist with manuscript preparation, literature reviews and references, copy and printing, and document production assistance
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
A Graduate Degree related to Public Health or relevant is preferable.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Demonstrates knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, IRB review, reporting requirements, and regulatory affairs.
Coordinate events, including scheduling, room reservations, and accommodations; organize and print agendas; and order food and refreshments as needed.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferable.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
