ROLE TITLE: Assistant Director of Admissions



POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Admissions





Summary of Position


The position supports various admission and recruitment programs in support of the College's enrollment goals. They provide support and assistance to prospective students and their families, as well as college counselors, through the planning and execution of recruitment activities including on campus visits, interviews, information sessions, high school and community based organization visits and college fairs. The counselor is part of a collaborative team who focus on student success through a lens of equity and inclusion and has a passion for the liberal arts.

What you will do in this role:



  • Manage assigned territory of prospective students, through proactive communication with students and families and college counselors via in-person meetings, phone, text and email.

  • Recruit at high schools, college fairs, and community-based organizations in assigned territory. Conduct interviews with students in their home regions.

  • Present information and serve as a representative of Allegheny College at virtual, on-campus, and off-campus events, including but not limited to, open house programs, information sessions, school fairs, and one-on-one meetings/interviews. Plan, organize and implement special recruitment activities targeting underrepresented students.

  • Read and evaluate admission applications making admission decision recommendations. Serve as a member of the admission committee.

  • Work collaboratively with financial aid to educate students and families on the value of a liberal arts education and paying for college.

  • In collaboration with Enrollment Management leadership develop and lead the execution of recruitment plans for specialized populations (international students, diversity recruitment initiatives, and/or transfer students).

  • Use of data and reporting to understand targeted demographics and prioritize recruitment activities.

  • Serve as Admissions liaison to the Office of Inclusive Excellence.

  • Travel to support student outreach activities for special populations.

  • Utilize CRM (Slate) and other related technologies to track communication with applicants, summarize meetings, plan and host events, and send targeted e-mail and text messages.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Office of Admissions as well as faculty, staff, and administration in addressing outreach and recruitment challenges and opportunities.

YOUR EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in the field.

  • Bachelor's Degree required and will consider years of experience in the field in lieu of a degree.

  • Must possess a valid passport

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally

  • Weekend and evening commitments

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, a team-oriented approach, and a solid understanding of prospect management in a fast-paced higher education consultative sales environment

  • Experience working with international students

  • Experience with diversity recruitment planning

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Bilingual speaker preferred

  • Previous experience with Slate CRM

YOUR COMPENSATION


New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected minimum pay rate range for this non-exempt position is $20.19 per hour, depending on experience



On April 20,2024 the US Department of Labor announced a final rule, which will take effect on July 1, 2024. The rule updates and revises the regulations issued under section 13(a)(1) for the Fair Labor Standards Act. Revisions include increases to the standard salary level threshold for exempt positions. Where positions currently are considered exempt from overtime, with the upcoming July 1 revisions, some positions may convert to non-exempt, based on the threshold amounts which are regulated by the Federal Government.
