Critical Care (ICU) - 24 Bed unit. Typical patient population includes acute heart surgeries including balloon pumps and Impella devices, acute trauma patients, strokes receiving TNK/TPA, patients requiring high risk medications such as pressors, patient requiring CRRT, ECMO, temperature management.
The Patient Care Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day and shift-to-shift operations of the inpatient nursing unit. This role focuses specifically on overseeing patent care delivery and ensuring that all activates, and care provided during each shift meet established standards of quality and safety. The Patient Care Shift Supervisor provides direct patient care more than fifty percent of the time. This position is concentrated on shift-specific duties and maintaining continuity of care. Essential Job Functions:
Advises leadership of significant and/or unexpected variances. Demonstrates an understanding of the budget and assists leadership in keeping within fiscal parameters.
Assists in developing and implementing short term goals and is responsible for measurable outcomes and effective use of resources.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies, and procedures. Serves as a resource for staff and physicians regarding policies, procedures, Joint Commission Standards, and practices.
Assists in the hiring process for Manager-approved positions. Provides information and makes recommendations to the Manager on performance reviews, disciplinary action and separation related decisions.
Completes reporting and record keeping requirements accurately and within established timelines.
Collaborates with patient care manager and the clinical education team for onboarding, orientation, and training.
Monitors services for efficiency and accuracy by evaluating, initiating and participating in process and quality improvement.
Carries out time and attendance responsibilities according to established procedure. Coordinates staffing and scheduling duties in accordance with established procedure and practices.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
