Description: Client in the Columbus, GA area is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee functions of the department in their food manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance department, keeping equipment operational, prioritizing tasks, and guaranteeing adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
Plan and Coordinate Maintenance Activities:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
Assign tasks and prioritize work orders for maintenance technicians.
Oversee daily setup and ensure equipment functionality before production.
Ensure Food Safety and Compliance:
Coordinate activities and conduct regular audits to maintain compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP) and sanitation protocols.
Understand and enforce safety procedures aligned with OSHA requirements.
Manage Staff and Resources:
Supervise and coach maintenance technicians, providing training and performance feedback.
Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, coordinating purchases with relevant departments.
Manage and troubleshoot maintenance issues, potentially including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
Budget and Efficiency:
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the maintenance department budget.
Identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures to enhance departmental efficiency.
Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements based on maintenance needs and budget.
Communication and Collaboration:
Effectively communicate with production teams to minimize downtime during equipment maintenance.
Liaise with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or repairs.
Report on maintenance activities, including completed tasks, identified issues, and budget adherence.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food industry maintenance supervision, preferred.
Proven understanding of preventive maintenance practices and principles.
Working knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP) and sanitation procedures.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to motivate and develop a maintenance team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently.
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems (preferred).
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) a plus.
