A Day in the Life
As a key member of the Patient Financial Services (PFS) team, the Government Doc Processor is responsible for all aspects of reviewing and validating customer and insurance documentation. This process is integral in securing insurance requirements to ensure all healthcare rules and regulations are followed, and a clean claim is submitted for reimbursement. The Doc Processor verifies the accuracy of documents (patient and payer related), recommends actions to resolve discrepancies, and investigates questionable data.

Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies; investigates questionable data. Communicates with internal teams and insurance payers. A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Analyzes credit information to establish customers' credit limits permitting highest profitable sales consistent with reasonably minimum losses.

  • Counsels and negotiates with customers to improve financial controls, suggests sources of working capital, and sets up special credit arrangements and payment schedules.

  • Plans credit restriction and collection tactics for risky, slow pay, and sensitive accounts.

  • May collect outstanding receivables in accordance with terms and conditions of sale.

  • Ensure that all documents required are in sync with the customer condition, products, and dates of service.

  • Meets or exceeds key performance indicators measuring productivity, quality and service level as defined by Senior Management

  • Initiate review of all required document(s), checking for data elements required on each form.

  • Analyzes and problem solves next steps for invalid documents.

  • Works with internal teams to return invalid and/or incomplete documents.

  • Maintains service level agreements with internal team partners.

  • Provides support to the internal sales teams.

  • Understand and follow policy/contract requirements for all payer documents.

Qualifications

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required


Nice to Have

  • Experience with various insurance plans, and understanding of payer contract requirements, including medical necessity criteria, authorization guidelines and general documentation.

  • Experience with reading and understanding the information provided on medical documents, including prescriptions and authorizations.

  • Experience in a payer or medical provider community that deal with all aspects of the revenue cycle.

  • Previous work experience with Athena IDX

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$38,000.00 - $57,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
