Position Summary:
The Department of Visual Arts & Art History seeks an Assistant Professor of Art History to teach and develop courses at undergraduate and graduate levels and perform research in open area of specialization with theoretical and methodological focus in the History and Criticism of Visual and Material Culture and Design. The standard teaching load is five courses per year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate survey and upper division topics courses from the current course roster and to develop new courses in areas, such as the Indigenous Art of the Americas, Latin American/Latinx Art, or Art of the African Diaspora and serve as a member of the graduate faculty with instructional assignments and participation in graduate MFA committees and contribution to the Ph.D. Program in Comparative Studies track in Design, Aesthetics, and the Arts.

Responsible to the Department Chair and other administrators of the university.
Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities per annual assignment.

May represent the university, college, or department on university and/or Statewide committees.
Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. in Art History or related discipline.
Preferred qualifications: Two to three years' teaching experience (beyond that of a teaching assistant) preferred. We are interested in applicants that will engage in collaborative efforts and related grant-writing with other units within the D. F. Schmidt College of Arts & Letters and its interdisciplinary programs, such as but not limited to Caribbean and Latin American Studies, Environment and Society, Peace Justice and Human Rights, Women Gender and Sexuality Studies, and our developing Museum Studies Program.
