4-H Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator

Provide outreach to communities statewide that grows the reach of 4-H positive youth development initiatives and related programs. Provide leadership for volunteer recruitment, onboarding and recognition strategies statewide. Develop recruitment materials, outreach plans, advertisements and other collateral to support the recruitment goals. Build relationships with businesses, community organizations and other entities to increase volunteer goals. Conduct outreach that promotes 4-H programs and impact statewide. Coordinate statewide 4-H events that are open to the general public and can serve as a means of recruitment. Programming foci include science, healthy living, and civic engagement as well as building leadership and other workforce skills. Emphasis is placed on ensuring all youth can thrive, including diverse and under-represented audiences.
Bachelor's degree and three years' related experience in the areas of youth, family, volunteer and/or community development and outreach. Competency in youth, volunteer and program development. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, teach and evaluate educational programs. Experience building collaborations and promoting initatives required. . Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clear goals. Computer and electronic communication proficiency necessary. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a collaborative environment. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and travel, primarily within the state.
Direct experience serving diverse and under-represented populations. Must possess a commitment to fostering and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all.
$24/hr to $28/hr
Position will be located in an Extension office, where space permits.
This position has funding for a 1.0 FTE with additional grant funding, with a .80 FTE provided by base fundings. Should grants supporting the additional FTE end, this position will reduce to a .80 FTE.
At a 1.0 FTE, the average working hours are 37.5. It is expected that this position will be non-exempt due to the salary/ hourly rate. Any hours worked over 37.5 will be paid overtime.
Must have the ability to travel to worksites, primarily within the state.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which will include periodic evenings and weekends.
6 months probationary period required.
