Position Summary


Reporting to our Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, this created role will play a critical part in building and driving key business objectives in support of our DEI programs and goals within Carlyle and across our portfolio. Carlyle has over 300 portfolio companies with 950,000+ employees globally. A key responsibility will be supporting the Carlyle DEI Leadership Network, a group of portfolio company CEOs and supporting Carlyle deal team members in guiding effective DEI strategies in their portfolio companies. In this role, you must be a self-starter, possess internal or external consulting experience, and a stellar capacity for client relationship management. Like all of our DEI team members, you will be a resource for our internal teams' collective learning and effectiveness, supporting our efforts to grow capabilities related to embedding culture, change, and DEI throughout our spheres of influence.



Responsibilities



Coordinating the Carlyle DEI Leadership Network ensuring that participating portfolio company leaders have information and support to drive progress in DEI. Key responsibilities include:




  • Designing and coordinating communications, materials, information and tools for video-based presentations and discussions with participating CEOs

  • Supporting the design and execution of the quarterly Expert DEI Speakers Series for portfolio companies and CEO-only meetings

  • Managing the process for enrolling new CEOs into network

  • Partnering with Investor Relations to facilitate the participation of LPs in Quarterly Expert Speakers Series

  • Serving as a contact for portfolio company lead contacts regarding events, their needs and available resources




Managing board diversity efforts. This includes expanding our network of potential board candidates, supporting our board sourcing partnerships and assisting deal teams that are looking for candidates.



Equipping our deal teams and portfolio companies to effectively implement DEI efforts in the portfolio





  • Managing the roll-out of tools and information to support effective board oversight of DEI

  • Collaborating with Carlyle teams across the firm (e.g. ESG, Global Portfolio Solutions, Procurement, Communications) to design strategies to best support portfolio companies

  • Identifying, cultivating, and leveraging an external network of resources and contacts who can be called upon for connections, and information to support portfolio company DEI needs

  • Developing a list of preferred consultants

  • Developing tools and resources, based on understanding of the needs of portfolio companies

  • Proactively sharing best practices and facilitating portfolio company interaction and collaboration where appropriate

  • Innovating to create strategies and tactics to support the DEI efforts of a large number of portfolio companies effectively

  • Providing ad hoc guidance as appropriate




Support key DEI Carlyle internal projects to build knowledge to advise the portfolio and support firmwide initiatives. This includes working on efforts to embed DEI in our decision-making processes and systems, the Carlyle DEI Incentive Awards, etc.



Managing the DEI Team contribution to the Annual and ESG reports including contributing content and coordinating with key partners to shape content (portfolio companies, key partner organizations, internal teams).



Qualifications



Education & Certificates





  • Bachelor's degree, required




Professional Experience





  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting, relationship management, client service, or member relations, required

  • Some travel is required (< 20%)




Benefits/Compensation



The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, D.C. and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.


The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $160,000.


In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
