Supports the mission of the Center of Expertise (COE): Compensation, Classification, and Career Architecture, primarily specializing in and assisting with campus wide classification activities. Participates in special projects, new initiatives, process development, and ensuring compliance with applicable University, state, and federal requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Classification & Consultation
Conduct position reviews and advise departments on the appropriate job structure, classification, job title, or appropriate exemption category criteria for civil service, academic professional, and temporary staff positions.
Assist with Career Architecture initiatives and special projects, providing guidance and expertise in the analysis, establishment, and revision of job families/progressions.
Provide direction to departments in the development of job descriptions. Independently develop new or revise existing job descriptions in compliance with IHR requirements and civil service class specifications and exemption procedures/categories.
Respond to requests and issues, including those of a complex level as appropriate, and initiate appropriate action, following through to resolution.
Assist with the Civil Service Classification/Exam Modification process, including collaborating with campus and external stakeholders in the development or revision of new and existing civil service classification specifications.
Compliance, Tracking & Reporting
Consult and collaborate with section staff and HR partners to assist in the development, improvement and/or implementation of policies, processes, and procedures, reference materials, and job aids.
Perform ongoing monitoring and tracking for the status and completion of Staff Appointment Change requests to meet expected deadlines, investigates to determine the cause of delay.
Assist with reviewing and processing employee group change decisions submitted to COE, preventing potential misclassifications, and disseminating proper documentation.
Participate as required in maintaining, compiling, analyzing, and organizing pertinent information and data for reports and compliance audits. Conduct audit checks on internal recordkeeping systems to identify and correct inaccuracies.
Support training programs and initiatives for HR partners, supervisors, and administrative personnel, assisting with identifying areas of need, developing presentations/materials, and presenting content to audiences.
Operational Support
Cross train in appropriate section responsibilities, activities, and processes to assist in providing continuous operational support to HR partners, campus units, and other stakeholders during periods of high-volume activity and staff absences.
Participate in coordinating and/or implementing various aspects for special projects and initiatives; serve as a point of contact/lead, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
Preferred Qualifications
4 years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties in an academic, corporate, or staffing agency environment.
5 years of professional work experience in revising and developing new job descriptions.
Demonstrated programming and organizational development experience.

Apply broad knowledge of concepts and procedures to perform complex tasks; identify problems and solutions independently; identify and resolve missing information; improve existing processes.
Success in the position requires working independently with occasional supervision and performing tasks autonomously, being a self-learner to increase knowledge and develop expertise with job responsibilities, demonstrating initiative, working as a team member, and managing frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in a job area; may be seen as a specialist within the job area.
Strong attention to details to ensure accuracy and compliance with processes, data entry, communication of information, and required recordkeeping.

Ability to develop new or revise job descriptions.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5020 - Human Resource Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The previously determined salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. Hybrid work options are available for this position. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
