Purpose of Position
The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Dakota seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching assistant professor contingent on available funding.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful applicant will receive a 12-month contract with an approximate distribution of 95% teaching and 5% service effort. Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics, including on-campus (in-person) courses and both term-based and self-paced asynchronous online courses
Advise and mentor undergraduate students
Work collaboratively with other Mathematics Department faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning environments
Required Competencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Mathematics
Competent in using technology and ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Earned M.S. in Mathematics by August 15, 2025.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
Experience mentoring students
Experience with teaching and course development for an online environment, especially using asynchronous delivery methods
