The full-time Maintenance Generalist II will support the demands of the Institute's maintenance operations and perform general maintenance services and repairs which include welding, plumbing, painting, carpentry and as a locksmith.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for building and/or installing shelves, cabinets, lab tops, doors and desk keyboard trays; hanging signs, pictures and boards; repairing door hinges, knobs and closures.
Responsible for replacing ballasts, electrical outlets, light switches and light bulbs; hanging light fixtures; repairing or replacing frayed power cords and plugs.
Perform inspections on sinks, drinking fountains, urinals, toilets, unclogs drains, install pipes and perform light repairs of sinks and garbage disposals.
Responsible for replacing floor and ceiling tiles and caulking around bathroom fixtures.
Works with specialized lab support equipment including hoods, incubators, freezers or other lab equipment as assigned. Moves equipment, freezers and furniture.
Responsible for responding to emergency calls and equipment alarms; evaluates problem and makes repairs or requests appropriate specialist.
Maintain adequate inventory of supply maintenance.
Responsible for estimating labor and material costs for work requests; may order supplies.
Performs routine work orders and preventative maintenance tasks, as assigned.
Accurately records daily hours worked and time spent on individual tasks.
Works daily with the Facilities Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Software (Micromain); BAS software, and the Footprints work order system.
May perform related tasks and work of other Facilities department personnel, as required or assigned.
Interprets blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to determine installation or repair requirements.
Expected Salary:
$21.00-$25.00 per hour.
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) to four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a research, hospital, or university setting is preferred.
Carpentry and/or welding experience are preferred.
