Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILLITIES:

Electrical: installs, repairs, and maintains complete electrical systems so that all components meet design intent. Troubleshoots and determines probable cause and makes appropriate steps toward correction. Analyzes and applies skill to perform repair or replacement to motor starters, switch gear, load centers and various equipment control circuits. Provides advanced diagnostics on electrical systems.

Plumbing/heating/welding: prepares pipes and completes installations for a variety of applications, such as: closed and open loops for domestic hot and cold city water, hot water heating, fire protection, sanitary waste, and steam supply and return lines. Installs and repairs industrial piping systems. Performs welding and brazing of piping systems. Calibrates and optimizes boiler and chiller systems, ensuring safe operation.

Carpentry/painting: reads and follows blueprint and design standards to build and complete renovation and construction projects. Applies skills to perform trade work necessary for job compliance. Understands life safety features (walls, doors, etc.), maintains and repairs. Provides guidance, plans, repairs, and performs installations.

Air conditioning/refrigeration/ventilation: Repairs or installs system components. Follows guidelines to set up operational mode so that the equipment provides the right environmental conditions required. Makes adjustments as necessary to fine tune devices and deliver output within prescribed range. Installs and maintains heat exchangers, expansion valves and other components of HVAC. Leads troubleshooting of refrigeration cycles and systems.

Preventive maintenance: Provides leadership to Maintenance Mechanic I, Maintenance Mechanic II, and Maintenance Mechanic III, or applies preventive measures required to keep equipment functioning per manufacturer’s guidelines.

Mechanical: Rebuilds or repairs machinery and support equipment for building utility systems and services such as: pumps, compressors, conveyors, transport carts, hydraulic tables, laundry washers, iron/folder, dryers, garbage disposals, food mixers, mowers, trimmers, hand tools, and a variety of patient care equipment.

Landscape/yard care: Applies yard care principles to render proper care to plantings of all types. Operates equipment to cultivate, fertilize, irrigate, trim, mow, or prune grounds and plantings as needed.

Completes and files necessary reports.

Participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities.

Provides security services in absence of Security Officer.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have completed necessary vocational training for certification in one of the four maintenance trades which are requisite toward gaining journeyman capabilities plus 10 years of job experience in related fields. Candidates without the required vocational certification must have twelve years of job experience in related fields. EPA Type I and Type II certification for handling refrigerants is required. Must meet the requirements of the Johnson Memorial Hospital skill level assessment program.

SCHEDULE:


Sunday- Wednesday. 2pm-12:30am. 10 hour shifts
80 hours per two-week pay period.
