JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Electrical: Installs complete electrical systems so that all components meet design intent. Troubleshoots and determines probable cause and makes appropriate steps toward correction. Analyzes and applies skill to perform repair or replacement to motor starters, switch gear, load centers and various equipment control circuits.
Plumbing/heating/welding: Prepares pipe and completes installations for a variety of applications, such as: closed and open loops for domestic hot and cold city water, hot water heating, fire protection, sanitary waste, and steam supply and return lines.
Carpentry/painting: Reads and follows blueprint and design standards to build and complete renovation and construction projects. Applies skills to perform trade work necessary for job compliance.
Air conditioning/refrigeration/ventilation: Repairs or installs system components. Follows guidelines to set up operational mode so that the equipment provides the right environmental conditions required. Makes adjustments necessary to fine tune devices to deliver output within ranges prescribed.
Preventive maintenance: Provides leadership to Maintenance Mechanic I and Maintenance Mechanic II staff. Applies preventive measures required to keep equipment functioning per manufacturer's guidelines.
Mechanical: Rebuilds or repairs machinery and support equipment for building utility systems and services such as: pumps, compressors, conveyors, transport carts, hydraulic tables, laundry washers, ironer/folder, dryers, garbage disposals, food mixers, mowers, trimmers, hand tools, and a variety of patient care equipment.
Landscape/yard care: Applies yard care principles to render proper care to plantings of all types. Operates equipment to cultivate, fertilize, irrigate, trim, mow, or prune grounds and plantings as needed.
Completes and files necessary reports.
Participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities.
Acts as security person in absence of Security Officer.
Performs additional duties/responsibilities as assigned as well as those not addressed here.
Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures including blood and body substance precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High school education or equivalent. Must have completed necessary vocational training for certification in three of the maintenance trades which are requisite toward gaining journeyman capabilities or three years job experience in related fields. EPA Type I and Type II certification for handling refrigerants is required. Must meet the requirements of the Johnson Memorial Hospital skill level assessment program.
