Department Statement:

The Lead Financial Systems and Business Process Analyst supports the Colgate mission by analyzing needs, providing technical guidance, helping with process improvement, and recommending and implementing solutions within the finance division. This position is responsible for providing support for financial systems and users, optimizing processes and the user experience of assigned software and systems, developing sustainable interfaces and developing in-house solutions when appropriate.
Through close collaboration with stakeholders, you will facilitate communication between the IT team and the Finance and Purchasing departments ensuring a shared understanding of goals and challenges. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in change management, guiding the implementation of new IT solutions, and providing ongoing support to ensure successful integration and user adoption. The ability to bridge the gap between technology and business needs will be essential in driving innovation, improving processes, and contributing to the overall success of the Finance and Purchasing departments.

Accountabilities:



  • Primarily accountable for the creation and management of efficient projects, processes, and record keeping across the suite of finance systems.

  • Responsible for the review and optimal use of University financial system and data management processes.

  • Ensure optimal implementation, configuration, and management of all finance systems, processes, and data.

  • Optimize business processes by automating manual processes, utilizing AI and automation tools where appropriate.

  • Provide direct support to finance, accounting, and accounts payable/receivable staff for day-to-day operational needs.

  • Maximize the usefulness and performance of financial systems and integration points. Deploy new modules, upgrades and fixes to assigned software applications and systems. Assist in establishing requirements, methods and procedures for routine maintenance.

  • Develop and maintain custom solutions where necessary and appropriate. Perform testing, including error handling.

  • Develop user guides and training documentation.

  • Following generally accepted practices in programming and software development, develop system interfaces and system integrations.

  • Maintain and perform upgrades on Gate Card software. Troubleshoot and resolve issues for users, including both internal constituents and outside vendors.

  • Ensures financial systems are in compliance with not for profit accounting standards.

  • Design, create and manage database structures for development, testing and production.

  • Lead small projects and actively participate on assigned projects. Meet deadlines.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers in an appropriate level of detail.

  • Assist ITS and Finance in the development of best practices and actively engage in improving IT and finance processes.

  • Participate in professional development activities.

  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred with multiple years of experience in managing, monitoring, and working with enterprise financial systems or software

  • Banner experience is preferred

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience utilizing comparable skills
