Fleet & Safety Director
JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibility – Management and oversight of company fleet by performing the following duties/functions personally, via fleet departmental oversight, or through the regional, branch and warehouse managers. Additional responsibilities include oversight and management of the Safety Manager /safety department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Fleet
Oversee fleet maintenance including:
Travel
Travel to branches may be needed to review to inspect fleet, training employees, discuss needs with employees, etc. A written summary of the visit including recommendations shall be completed within 3 days of return and sent to the BM (cc RM and President). Proper action plan and follow up is also required.
Risk Management
Ensure policies and procedures are in place for safe operations of the business and the employees. Promote safety proactively to prevent accidents and injuries either directly or via oversight of the Safety Department.
Warehouse Managers Manual
Maintain and update as needed. Ensure branches are using for compliance of GES policies and procedures as well as OSHA and DOT compliance.
OSHA/DOT Compliance
Ensure proper procedures are in place to comply with both OSHA and DOT laws. Train branches accordingly.
Safety
Oversee, manage Safety Department to facilitate those duties and responsibilities (per job description) of the Safety Manager. Support, drive company safety culture to achieve successful results as established by the company/President.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports to the President. Works with Human Resource Department as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Well organized person with strong administrative and good interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task the workload. Overnight travel required typically 25% and up to 50% of the time.
Education and Experience:
1. Education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade, prefer bachelor’s degree.
2. A minimum of three (3) years in management of Fleet and Safety for a company with multiple locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Mature elements of English language usage, spelling, and arithmetic.
2. Ability to utilize computers including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
3. Knowledge of office methods, practices, and procedures, and ability to make mathematical calculations.
4. Ability to understand; carry out, oral and written directives in a timely manner.
5. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships as part of a team effort with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees and customers.
6. Must have knowledge of maintenance programs for trucks (including boom trucks, cranes, conveyor belts), safety programs (including filing of accident and injury reports).
