The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician is responsible for coordinating and replenishing narcotic and non-narcotic medication distribution throughout the health system to provide patient medications in a safe, accessible and timely manner. The technician provides IV preparation and delivery support, prepares, dispenses and inventories medication in storage areas and keeps records of medication preparations.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinate automated dispensing systems and cart fill activities to provide efficient medication availability for patient care.
Inventory management of automated dispensing systems including controlled substance discrepancies, medication outdate and waste management.
Address distribution system operational problems identified by users and provide technical expertise to pharmacy and nursing staff.
Responsible for adherence to the department's controlled substance security policy.
Performs medication preparation of sterile and/or non-sterile compounds.
Performs Tech-Check-Tech in accordance with the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy.
Maintains pharmacy technician practice competencies in selected areas of pharmacy operations.
Maintains appropriate patient and department records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations and department of pharmacy policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
