The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery and the Organ Transplant Center at the University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a surgeon for a faculty position in Abdominal Solid Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery. Appointment can be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in either the tenure or clinical track depending on experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will become the Surgical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs as well as the Director of the Kidney Living Donor program. Opportunity to participate in liver transplantation, hepatobiliary and pediatric transplant surgery exists depending on experience and training.

* Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or an equivalent degree
* Candidates must have completed training in all phases of General Surgery
* Candidates must possess transplant training from an ASTS-approved fellowship program in solid organ transplantation, to include training in kidney, kidney-pancreas transplantation as well as deceased and laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy
* Applicants must possess board eligibility/certification in Surgery from the American Board of Surgery
* Candidates must meet OPTN criteria to be the Primary Surgeon for Kidney and Pancreas Programs as well as the living donor kidney surgeon
* Candidate must provide appropriate documentation of meeting Primary surgeon and living donor surgeon requirements as outlined in the OPTN By laws
* Applicants that want to participate in liver transplantation must have training/experience from an accredited liver fellowship
Applicants that want to participate in pediatric transplantation must have appropriate training/experience
* Applicants with established research are preferred and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding
* Three years of experience as a post-fellowship trained, attending Transplant surgeon is highly desirable
