Overview

IDG is seeking a Senior Director of Corporate Communications who will serve as the primary leader of the global Communications Department, overseeing both internal and external communications strategies. This pivotal role demands a versatile professional adept at managing a broad spectrum of communication activities to ensure a unified and effective messaging framework across a global organization.

The role requires a mature self-starter with the confidence and experience to guide and shape a communications agenda that has executive endorsement. Through proactive stakeholder management, s/he will serve as a business partner to senior leadership; understands the business and can provide counsel at the same time drive results. Ideally, the candidate will have a track record of managing stakeholders in a global, distributed organization in a change management environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and drive clarity of IDG vision, strategy and values. Ensure consistency of the narrative among both internal and external audiences.
  • Favorably position the company and leadership through proactive messaging – creating and seizing opportunities to drive this strategy both internally and externally.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the communications function, with the ability to drive execution, pivot as needed and provide leadership as a “player/coach.”
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align communication strategies with business objectives.
  • Develop and execute external communication strategies that promote the company’s people, brand, products, and services.
  • Create and implement a proactive media relations program to favorably position IDG and its leadership within the global trade, business and financial press. Create and maintain relationships with key top-tier media.
  • Develop and manage an effective crisis and issues management program that signals early warning signs for any scenario that could be disruptive to the business. Anticipate, identify and mitigate communications and reputation risk.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies to educate, align and engage employees around the company’s mission and business goals and objectives.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment to coordinate and manage communications for multiple stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Lead and facilitate town halls, meetings, and other internal events to foster a transparent and inclusive company culture.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing both internal and external communications for small to medium organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities and the experience to collaborate and build rapport with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience advising and coaching executive leadership on communication-related issues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire confidence among senior leaders and all stakeholders with whom he/she will interact.
  • Ability to positively motivate, lead and build consensus across all departments.
  • Fundamental communication expertise is a must – excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role can be located in an approved remote US location.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $180,000.00 and $220,000.00 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
