The Senior Director, Systems Development Center of Excellence for Beckman Coulter is responsible is responsible for leading improvements in our processes and capabilities critical for world-class development of IVD analyzers and workflow instruments. along with ensuring coordination and synchronization of product development roadmaps across the business units. The Senior Director will work closely with the VP, Software Platform and Processes and the Innovation DBSL to identify gaps, develop countermeasures and coordinate improvement activities across the business units.



This position reports to the SVP, Chief Technology Officer of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and will be located at either our Chaska, MN or Miami, FL facility.





In this role, you will have the opportunity to:



  • Lead product development improvement initiatives and drive functional excellence for the next generation Systems, Hardware Engineering, Reliability, and Verification & Validation functions.

  • Coordinate synchronization of cross business unit product development programs including identification of key dependencies and integration points and provide oversight to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.

  • Provide leadership for Product Compliance Engineering team with goal of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining technical proficiency and operational efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain technical assessment of competitive landscape.

  • Strategically plan for and implement appropriate processes required to efficiently execute new product development of IVD systems & participate in evaluation of potential Open Innovation partners.





The essential requirements of the job include ​



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 20+ years of experience in progressively more responsible engineering management roles is required. Includes 6+ years leading people. Master's degree strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in Systems engineering of complex electro-mechanical systems preferred

  • Experience with companies in the life science, diagnostics, instrumentation, or reagents space

  • A strong track record of successfully completing engineering projects on time and within budget





Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:



  • Ability to travel minimum 25%
