Iowa Health Care Engineering Services North Liberty is seeking a full-time Electronics Tech I. The anticipated scheduled hours will be between 12a.m. to 8:30a.m. Operating under general supervision, involves the construction, modification, and maintenance of electronic equipment used in instructional, research, medical, pneumatic tube, fire alarm systems, electrical maintenance, and other university-related programs and services. The position also includes assisting in the management of pneumatic tube system operations and providing support to the electrical shop team.
The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custom Equipment Construction: Build custom electronic devices based on designs from engineers or supervisors. Assist in creating schematic and wiring diagrams.
Equipment Repair: Repair developmental and production electronic devices, including computers, oscilloscopes, and X-ray equipment, following diagnosis and consultation.
Functional Modification: Adjust the functions of various equipment to meet specific requirements.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on electronic instruments and equipment.
Calibration and Adjustment: Calibrate and adjust electronic equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Professional Development: Attend conferences and workshops to stay current with advancements in the electronics field.
Fire Alarm Systems: Assist with the maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems, including testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Electrical Systems: Aid in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems by troubleshooting issues and performing routine inspections to maintain system reliability.
Electrical Shop Support: Provide assistance to the electrical shop team in various tasks, including electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance. Collaborate with team members to complete projects and ensure efficient operations.
Pneumatic Tube Systems:
Install, repair, and maintain pneumatic tube systems used for internal document and material communication.
Assist in managing pneumatic tube system operations, ensuring proper functioning of components.
Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform routine inspections to ensure smooth operation.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a two-year resident electronics trade school, or any combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired.
