Job Title:Clinical Maxillofacial ProsthodontistDepartment:Dentistry | Graduate Prosthodontics

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for clinical-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry, with a joint appointment at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The primary responsibilities of this position are performed in the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital's Head and Neck Service at the Wexner Medical Center. The position's duties include administrative and supervisory oversight of the professional and laboratory support staff; attending tumor board sessions; assisting in developing clinical protocols; and providing patients with the full scope of intraoral and extraoral maxillofacial prosthodontic care. Other duties include research and scholarly activity, supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, and contributing to the college's continuing education programs. Opportunities to engage in biomaterials, and clinical and translational research are also available.

  • Promote evidence-based teaching skills in an education setting, proficiency in prosthodontics, and a strong track record of scholarly activity.

  • Demonstrate a passion for student education.

  • Apply advanced technology to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Demonstrate effective teaching skills through student and peer reviews.

  • May serve as course director which includes preparation and distribution of course materials, management of lecture/laboratory schedules, and conducting and grading of all examinations.

  • Support a model for dental education that includes the incorporation of innovative technologies, interdisciplinary education and patient care, and evidence-based dentistry.

  • Provide interdisciplinary mentoring to students.

  • Demonstrate collaboration between college divisions.

  • Participation in college and/or university committees.

  • Membership in professional organizations and contributions to professional activities outside of the university.

Education and Experience Requirements


Required: Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree and a certificate of advanced education in prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics from a CODA-accredited program. They also must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist.



Desired: Preference will be given to applicants that are board-certified and have significant administrative and clinical experience, including fabrication of extraoral prosthetics, and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree. Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics is highly desirable.

The Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry is composed of several disciplines, including Operative Dentistry, Dental Anatomy, Occlusion, Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics, Implant Dentistry, Digital Dentistry, and Dental Materials Science.




The College

The Head and Neck Service spans a broad range of disciplines that include medical and radiation oncologists; head and neck surgeons; maxillofacial prosthodontists; voice and swallowing specialists; molecular and biological pathologists; genetic scientists and more - all specializing in a specific type of head and neck cancer research, prevention, detection, treatment, and care.
