Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.
The Colgate University Orchestra follows a distinctive model in which professional musicians and Colgate students work side by side. The repertoire is of professional caliber. The orchestra performs two concerts per semester and is conducted by Marietta Cheng, Professor of Music and Director of the Colgate University Orchestra.
The Colgate University Music Department invites applications for principal musicians, section musicians and/or to be on a substitute list for the Colgate University Orchestra.
Responsibilities may include 1-4 concerts a year. Performers can expect working up to a maximum of 14 hours per concert series. These concerts normally take place in early October, mid November, late February and mid April.
Professional orchestral experience is required.
Music school/conservatory training is preferred.
