Position Overview
Ensures that sites and projects operate efficiently and successfully. Oversees all operations, coordinates production, monitors site systems and hires and develops staff.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Is responsible for the implementation of environmental, health and safety regulations/ policies/ laws.
Responsible for ensuring Risk Assessments, T5s, and Task Training are completed daily.
Responsible for all sub-contractor safety, compliance and performance on company projects.
Directs activities of crews involved with construction of highways, roads, and other construction projects. May include multiple projects at one time.
Involved in the bidding of projects as required by branch manager.
Review and approve all large estimates in your scope prior to them being approved by Branch Manager.
Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on the knowledge of tools, materials, equipment, and various construction methods.
Holds weekly progress meetings with required personnel.
Facilitate the project "kickoff" and "post-mortem" meetings.
Is responsible for all sub-contractor documents, pay estimates, and change orders.
Oversees procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to complete projects.
Discusses with and directs supervisory personnel (superintendents and foremen) and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work specifications and procedures to keep to schedules.
Ensure that the Safety and Production Goals are announced each day and then cascaded down.
Responsible for employment decisions within their reporting structure; such as hiring, training, recommending positions changes, and terminations.
Effectively manage staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and providing development through training.
Responsible for driving performance and career development by ensuring quality performance reviews and career discussions occur on a timely basis within your command structure.
Works with Internal and External Customers to resolve construction issues and improve procedures.
Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and schedules to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
Prepares or receives from subordinates, reports of progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
Maintains and updates weekly work schedules, to be reported at weekly manager meeting.
Involved in weekly job cost review meeting with Branch Manager, must understand and be able to explain project variances.
Responsible for all Plant Sites, such as the leases, preparation, and clean up once job is complete.
Maintain properties in good condition and appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
A bachelors degree in Construction Management or similar is preferred, but not required.
Work Requirements
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined per company policy.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Related experience in construction field, minimum 10 years (desired)
Construction management experience 4+ years minimum (highly desired)
Knowledge of profit and loss statements and an understanding of basic accounting principles.
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary.
Be knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
Be able to read plans and specifications
Ability to use decision making skills for cost effective solutions on projects.
Mathematical understanding in order to calculate grades, slopes, dumps, etc.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to walk or stand greater than one third of the time, or sit no greater than a third of the time
Ability to climb stairs/ladders to examine equipment at heights.
Ability to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Able to work in all weather conditions.
Work Environment
Ability to wear respirator in workplace conditions containing fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
Will work between a standard office and field operations environment.
