This position is responsible for operating a shag truck to move trailers while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Responsible for the "spotting" and "pulling" of all trailers in and out of the cooling sheds on site and harvesting, while following the procedures. Shag Drivers will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of Tyson trucks and our customer's trailers, following all plant policies and procedures; will always keep the truck clean.
Duties:
Must be willing and available to work overtime and weekends if required.
This position primarily requires operating equipment from the seated position, but could occasionally require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and arm/wrist/shoulder movements.
Will ensure that every live receiving trailer is weighed & logged properly.
Responsible for monitoring temperatures, fuel levels and proper running of the cooling sheds.
Responsible for maintaining feather, offal, & scrap trailers under proper level & weight.
Responsible for maintaining good traffic flow of outside drivers while on Tyson property.
Responsible for ensuring the truck yard stays free of debris and trash. Will be responsible for pre-trip inspections on the Shag trucks and ensure any defects are reported to your Supervisor immediately for repair.
Responsible for the cleanliness of the shag trucks on a daily basis.
Responsible for ensuring you abide by all Tyson foods, Inc. Shag Procedures and Training.
Will be responsible to ensure that "Safety" while operating a shag truck is top priority.
Must be willing and able to drive, walk, sit, bend, stoop, twist as needed and repeat all essential functions throughout the shift.
Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work is performed outside and therefore requires must be willing and able to work/drive in inclement weather; hot, cold, dusty, icy, etc.
The position also involves completion of paperwork as well as frequent communication using a radio to communicate with the shipping department.
The Team Member must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform position tasks.
In addition, must be available to work all shifts, including weekends, and available for overtime as needed.
Must have a valid Driver's License and be 18 years or older and must be able to pass MVR report. No CDL is required.
NO DWIS/DUIS in the last 12 months
Must be able to perform basic math skills and use a calculator in order to track inventory.
Rehires must wait 90 days and have no more than 3 times worked to be eligible.
Effective Communication Skills Required
Candidates must possess strong communication skills to ensure safety, efficiency, and coordination in the yard. This includes the ability to clearly convey and understand instructions, collaborate with team members, and respond appropriately in various situations, including emergencies. Effective communication over radio and with all levels of management is also essential.
