Functioning under moderate supervision, the Registered Nurse is, at minimum, a competent practitioner. This level clinician utilizes the nursing process in providing patient care and patient/family teaching. The practitioner organizes and implements safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care in controlled settings with predictable outcomes. Patients served may include neonate through adult-geriatric.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; currently licensed as an RN in the State of Maryland; successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation, including but not limited to BLS certification and medication certification required. ACLS required (PACU, ICCU, ED) as well as units listed in certification policy, NRP required (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligible for completion of course within six (6) months from date in position. One year experience as an RN is required. Candidates in the operating room must have 6 months experience in operating room nursing and one year experience as a Scrub Technician. OR candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in the circulatory nurse's role. If employed in other specialty areas, certification in specialty is preferred. Telemetry Nurse must pass a basic arrhythmia exam and have ability to recognize critical rhythms and seek intervention.
