Medical Assistant I - Office Based
Work Location: 10000 Lakewood Blvd., Downey, CA
Work Shift: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Medical Assistant I is responsible for primarily conducting front office duties.
How will you make an impact:
- Provides front office support and may occasionally provide back-office support.
- Greets patients in a friendly, service-oriented manner in compliance with Carelon Health Care Center (CCC) or Medical Group Practice protocols and workflows.
- Oversees patient check in by ensuring medical records/charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed/prepared.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs and records reason for visit.
- Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication.
- Oversees patient check out by scheduling follow up appointments, collecting co-payment if applicable, ensuring paperwork is complete.
- Schedules and confirms patient's appointments.
- Reconciles co-payments at the end of each day.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Requires an active, current and valid Medical Assistant certification.
- For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience highly preferred.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.

Bilingual communication skills in English/Spanish preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification desired.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the pay* range for this specific position is $16.99/hr. to $25.48/hr.
