Job Description:

Underwriting Internship, Summer 2025




Location: This position will be fully on-site. The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of our Atlanta, GA Elevance Health PulsePoint location.


This Underwriting Intern will be responsible for supporting and working on a variety of underwriting projects and tasks to help develop and implement improvements to the underwriting function.


This internship will be a full-time, 12-week (May 19th, 2025 - August 8th, 2025) program and is an opportunity for the selected candidates to engage with key underwriting deliverables and showcase their critical thinking skills and creativity while gaining experience and working knowledge of underwriting within a Fortune 100 company.



How you will make an impact:



  • Assisting in the analyzing of data to educate the audience on the meaning of said data and what story it tells.


  • Make and present recommendations based on the findings of this analysis.


  • Work with the Agile Resource Train (ART) to analyze, develop, and validate projects and data.


  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for efficiency.


  • Make recommendations to management related to development of the intern program.


  • Make recommendations to management related to development of the Underwriting Development Program.





Minimum Requirements:



  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related major


  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship (5/19/25-8/8/25)


  • Currently enrolled in a program of study at an accredited college/university





Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:



  • Candidates pursuing their bachelor's degrees are preferred


  • Candidates graduating in 2025/2026 with a 3.0 GPA or higher are preferred


  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership ability (ex: on-campus leadership, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, etc.)


  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills


  • Experience in the use of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Access)


  • Interest in the healthcare industry
