Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for an IRB/Compliance Specialist to join our Legal department. This is a full-time opportunity that is fully remote. Candidates must reside in Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, or be willing to relocate to one of these locations for consideration.

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the IRB and Compliance Specialist will support the organization’s Compliance department and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities. You will support processes for submission and approval of human subjects research, and triaging and responding to compliance inquiries while ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory standards within Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States.
You can expect to:
Provide project management support for compliance initiatives, including monitoring and auditing in accordance with the Annual Compliance Plan, Conflict of Interest, and Compliance Training projects; coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment and efficiency
Lead compliance investigations in accordance with corporate protocols; utilize multiple internal systems for incident intake, triage, tracking, and resolution of inquiries and complaints
Oversee onboarding and training for new research staff on human subjects protections and responsible research conduct
Facilitate IRB and Research Compliance Committee (RCC) meetings, including agenda creation, member communications, materials distribution, guest invitations, and minute-taking
Perform comprehensive reviews of IRB submissions, including triaging, validating for completeness, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Monitor the IRB inbox for submission errors, expiration notices, and compliance issues; assist in the creation and updates of IRB forms, procedures, and policies as necessary
What is required:
Bachelor’s degree in health, life sciences, or related field is required
Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of healthcare regulatory compliance experience; Experience with regulatory audits is preferred
Certification as a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required
Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring effective prioritization and accomplishment of objectives under tight deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly and professionally, and work collaboratively with others
Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment
Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $62,712.22 to $78,390.11 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
