About the Position:



We are seeking an experienced, Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our growing d esign team in any of the following Pond offices or remotely :


Atlanta, GA - Headquarters; Atlanta, GA - Cobb; Atlanta, GA - Downtown ; Augusta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO; Columbia, SC; Honolulu, HI; Huntsville, AL; Jacksonville, FL; Mobile, AL; New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; San Diego, CA; Savannah, GA; Tampa, FL.


The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of related fire protection engineering experience (internship and professional experience included), with a PE license (or passage of the PE exam) .The successful candidate would assist in mentoring our dynamic team of engineering professionals while supporting a range of multidisciplinary projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects. This includes making Fire Protection Engineering design decisions on suppression systems, fire alarm systems, mass notifications, and assisting Architecture with Life Safety design.

  • Ability to determine the scope of assigned fire protection project, review and interpret construction documents, applicable codes, and utilize software programs to create the engineering designs based on the interpretation of project plans and submittals/specifications of contract documents.

  • Ability to determine cost-effective fire sprinkler and fire alarm system layouts, quantities, and specifications; select and schedule equipment with limited oversight.

  • Knowledge of code compliance of the fire protection systems and the building design.

  • Physically able to conduct field inspections and analysis to upgrade and correct existing system problems.

  • Performs accurate, legible and well thought out design calculations.

  • Coordinates Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines; highlighting design components that will impact the other discipline's design so that the overall design is constructable without conflict.

  • Attends project kick off meetings and coordination meetings.

  • Works independently with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative.

  • Performs assigned tasks in accordance with company QC procedures.

  • May supervise and review the work of other team members assigned to the project team. Delegates work to junior team members.

  • Communicates with clients as needed and defined by project.

  • Develops and maintains positive customer and client relationships to foster repeat business. Contacts clients and/or contractors as needed on specific jobs.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.

  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Fire Protection Engineering , Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

  • 5+ years related experience and/or training.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • PE License Earned or PE Exam Passage and Awaiting Licensure.


Software/Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps.

  • Revit/AutoCAD/BIM preferred.


Physical Demands:



The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position required the individual to use the computer working at a desk in either an office or cubicle; must be able to talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 10 pounds, stand, sit and walk, must have close and color vision, use depth and peripheral vision, be able to adjust focus.



Travel Requirements:



Occasional attendance at meetings and other off-site events requires the ability to provide reliable transportation. Position may require occasional travel to domestic or foreign locations. Must maintain a current, valid driver's license and proof of insurance. The position may require travel internationally and as such the capability to travel freely on a passport or other official document.

Additional Information


Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Senior Project Manager with a salary range of $82,400.00 - $179,000.00 .
