The Opportunity



The Landfill Equipment Operator operates a wide variety of heavy machines and vehicles that perform the spreading and compaction of industrial waste disposed on-site. The Landfill Equipment Operator reports to the Operations Superintendent as well as receive regular, daily instruction from the Landfill Manager.



Key Responsibilities





  • Adhere to all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety training and inspections.

  • Successfully operate a variety of heavy-duty equipment (i.e. motor graders, bulldozers, heavy compactors, loaders, excavators, back-hoes, trucks) with considerable care and attention.

  • Perform routine assignments in the safe operation of heavy equipment used in landfill operations and maintenance, as well as general civil work construction and maintenance

  • Prepare, maintain and present work orders, equipment maintenance, and safety reports as necessary and required.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with environmental laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Work closely with team members and management to ensure efficient operations and communicate any issues or improvements in processes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications





  • High school degree or GED required

  • 3-5 years experience in landfill operations highly preferred

  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment including bulldozers, heavy compactors, loaders, excavators, back-hoes, trucks

  • Knowledge and skills in operations, maintenance, and service of work site equipment.

  • Formal trade school training in the operation of heavy construction and trucking equipment is desirable.

  • The ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check, are required

  • Ability to work required shift

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
