We're seeking an Estimator/Project Manager in the Atlanta, GA area with similar values who can put his or her expertise to work. The individual in this role will report to the Director of Contracting while working closely with the Project Superintendents to ensure all essential items are being taken care of.
The Estimator/Project Manager's main objective is for estimating and managing projects from start to finish and be the lead representative for the client.
General responsibilities include:
Working with Project Superintendents and the Operations Manager to complete projects on time and within budget.
Management of production and profit.
Procurement of all project materials and subcontractors.
Responsible for project payments, change orders, record keeping and As-Builts.
Attend pre-bid meetings.
Read, review, understand, and interpret plans and specifications to enable the ability to efficiently estimate a project.
Area quantity take offs and estimate projects from plans via company-provided software.
Review and compare bids with Estimator/Project Managers.
Order and review all project materials and approve vendor invoices.
Train and mentor Project Superintendents on cost analysis for projects.
Communicate with the architects, engineers, and owners.
Maintain and develop new relationships with architects, engineers, and owners.
Follow safety procedures and protocols as set forth in orientations and trainings.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and requirements necessary for success in this role:
Computer skills to be proficient to learn and understand both the bidding and job cost tracking software.
Skills to gather data and documentation of cost analysis from projects.
An unwavering focus on safety.
Extensive knowledge of all golf course construction practices and techniques.
Strong communication, negotiation, and numerical skills.
Strong coordination, time management, active listening and reasoning skills required.
Scheduling management is a plus.
Proficient with AutoCad, Trimble Business Center or other related software.
The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and to identify current or potential issues or conflicts and work toward the solution of those issues independently or collaborating as needed.
Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
Comfortable taking personal responsibility to work efficiently and continuously improving the golf division processes.
Knowledge in golf construction, but not limited to: demolition, grading, drainage, feature construction, irrigation, finishing and/or grassing.
Education and experience:
High School Diploma/GED
4-year college degree preferred or a minimum of 10 years field experience in construction.
Minimum 5 years of golf course construction experience preferred.
Physical requirements necessary in this role:
Regularly must be able to move around a construction site on his/her own.
Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
At times effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
