The University of Pittsburgh, Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, is seeking a highly motivated Administrative Assistant to increase efficiency and effectiveness in a group of departments by providing an advanced level of administrative support to the faculty, students, and staff. This includes providing primary administrative support, including but not limited to serving as the first point of contact for the departments; course preparation; shipping; event management; maintenance of accurate records, drafting correspondence; faculty support; coordinating travel; preparing expense reports, invoice, and payment requests; and data entry and tracking. Candidates wishing to apply must have strong communication skills and an ability to prioritize work. Exceptional proficiency in commonly used software (word, excel, adobe) is expected. The Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences is committed to building a culturally diverse staff. Performs administrative and general office support work.
The successful candidate will use a computer extensively. They must be capable of oral, written, and electronic communications. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. In addition to a computer, they must be able to use a telephone and other general office equipment including but not limited to fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, printers, etc.
This position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus is occasionally necessary. Also the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
