JOB TITLE: Equipment Program Manager

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Operations

SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, connection/disconnection of electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and equipment movement at assigned job sites in their area. Create, organize and execute equipment plans as required by customer or by contract. Collaborate with the Business Unit Leaders/Superintendent/Project Managers, and shipyard electrical department personnel on planning, execution/installation of equipment, and any other necessary aspects relating to equipment for each project. Manage equipment & logistics personnel team. Must have the ability to create, implement, and enforce program requirements to maintain all equipment assets in good working order while maximizing service life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage equipment fleet to include blast and recovery equipment, compressors, paint pumps (plural and airless), and environmental control systems such as dehumidification and heating components.
  • Manage Equipment Department personnel, including Regional Equipment Managers.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, non-urgent, and urgent equipment repairs with electricians, mechanics, and technicians, or third party service providers.
  • Stock and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with Trades Department, create training programs for proper operation of equipment, including assessing newly acquired assets for any changes to configurations and operating requirements,
  • Manage equipment maintenance database, currently “Maintain X“ to assign and track equipment planned maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate purchasing of repair parts
  • Manage and track capital expenditures.
  • Create equipment related spreadsheets/lists to support the Project Managers and Superintendents for each job
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents on the pre-planning of required equipment needs
  • Organize equipment and documentation to stay in compliance with contracts, state regulatory requirements, as well as our internal requirements
  • Participate in job walks and customer meetings to ensure required support for hook-up of equipment for the duration of the job
  • Conduct training with equipment operators to ensure proper completion of required inspection logs
  • Submit weekly reports to corporate to include equipment tracking spreadsheets, daily/weekly/monthly/periodic inspection logs, and out of service equipment reports with maintenance completion timelines
  • Work with Business Unit Leader to plan for equipment placement for each job, including job-specific recommendations for both owned and rental equipment
  • Work with Business Unit Leader to develop purchasing requests for new regional equipment needs
  • Work with vendors to order rental equipment and ensure ongoing operations and/or maintenance/repair issues are addressed promptly
  • Assign inspections, preventative maintenance and urgent maintenance needs to electricians, mechanics, and technicians
  • Communicate with project teams and leadership on status of equipment service repairs
  • Manage all mobilization and demobilization for equipment and consumables for all jobs in the region
  • Manage and receive daily requests from all Superintendents and PM’s for all equipment, consumable and vehicle support needs for all jobs in the region
  • Oversee, manage, and schedule drivers time based on urgency of all requests
  • Manage all shipments to different regions or return of rental equipment
  • Receive all orders and stage them for mobilization to job sites
  • Manage the warehouse and warehouse personnel
  • Manage facility repairs and build-outs, if required
  • Coordinate major repairs with service contractors, when required
  • Manage any utility issues/needs

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Directs and oversees the Regional Equipment Managers, Equipment Maintenance Technicians, and Drivers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be an effective manager of assigned department personnel.
  • Knowledge of government processes for handling government and customer furnished materials.
  • Experienced with managing/scheduling of repairs and maintenance for large equipment fleets or electrical and mechanical systems including parts sourcing and coordination with OEMs
  • Electrical knowledge and experience (480V and below)
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience
  • Highly organized with ability to schedule tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and have an understanding of ratios and percentages
  • Ability to read and interpret complex written, oral, or diagramed instructions
  • Familiarity with procurement, purchasing, logistics, and supply chain concepts and methodologies
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental hazards specific to the manufacturing/ship repair/maritime industry

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma required, Technical/trade school training and/or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in a support management role.
  • Engineering degree with Project Management experience a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requires average strength, physical dexterity, and agility
  • Must be able to regularly stand for long periods of time; work on scaffolds and ladders; work on top of machinery; work in confined spaces
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, and work well in close proximity to other employees
  • Travel may be required
