About Business Technology:
The Business Technology (BSTEC) Department is part of the Business Division. BSTEC provides courses and programs designed to prepare students with the technical skills and knowledge to be successful in a variety of business positions.
The BSTEC Department hosts an advisory committee meeting three times a year. Experts from business and industry volunteer their time to evaluate curriculum and help verify that programs meet the current needs of employers.
In addition to having academic credentials, the faculty is required to have work experience related to the field in which they are teaching. Thus, students are exposed to current work practices while they are learning concepts and perfecting the skills that will be needed in their future occupation.
Salary will depend upon the number of classes taught. Salary is based upon initial placement, work experience, and the number of assigned credits. The current salary range per credit hour is $1,153.31 to $1,234.67 Please review the current collective bargaining agreement for additional information (See 205 Part-time Faculty Placement and Salary).
Teach a range of business technology classes specifically geared toward students in the IBEST program (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training);
Course topics include beginning keyboarding, beginning 10-key, introductory Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), Windows 11, intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, customer service, fundamentals of office management, and career readiness;
Familiarity with Canvas course development and administration;
Teach a schedule that includes day (12:00-4:30PM) hybrid and online courses;
If possible, participate in departmental and cross-disciplinary curriculum development and delivery that is responsive to changing technologies, and is responsive to a diverse student population.
