The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Orthopedics is currently seeking a full time Radiologic Technician 1 to work in Miami, FL. The Radiologic Technologist 1 sees patients referred for radiological examinations and produces radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. An employee in this position operates with the goal of preventing patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, video tape, and computer-generated information to determine whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
Records thorough and accurate patient medical histories.
Explains procedures, observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan, monitors patients' conditions and reactions, and reports abnormal signs to a physician.
Positions and immobilizes patients on examining table.
Arranges imaging equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance.
Records, processes, maintains patient data and treatment records, and prepares reports.
Organizes examination rooms, ensuring that the necessary equipment is ready for use.
Performs scheduled maintenance and minor emergency repairs on radiographic equipment. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Associate degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Experience:

Working with the orthopedic faculty at UHealth Towers, Plantation, and Doral Orthopedic clinic locations in the role of Radiologic Technologist 1.

Radiology skills- Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements and regulations. Knowledge of radiologic safety cleanliness, and infection control policies and regulations. Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses.
Ensuring image quality and adjusting as needed.
Process digital images using PACS system for storage, retrieval and transmission purposes Positioning patients, as needed to carry out the procedure.
