General Summary
This position is responsible for the maintenance and management of equipment for an assigned facility including supervising the activities of all employees engaged in repairing and maintaining equipment to ensure company assets are preserved and work schedules are met.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all equipment for the assigned facility in accordance with Granite's Corporate Equipment Standards.
Manage and schedule the maintenance of all equipment for assigned facility to ensure all equipment is up and running in a timely manner and no work is delayed; maintain equipment files including inventory, repair, maintenance, oil sampling, and servicing to ensure the preservation of company investments.
Manage all shop and field mechanics including hiring, firing and development to ensure a productive and efficient department.
Monitor the condition of equipment including removing equipment from use due to mechanical or safety problems to ensure a safe working environment.
Maintain communications with local equipment dealers and appropriate vendors.
Inspect damaged equipment in the shop or field as required to determine normal wear and tear, damage or abuse and report results to the Equipment Manager to ensure proper use and upkeep of equipment.
Review and analyze requests for purchases, repairs or replacement of tools and parts and make recommendations to the Equipment Manager to ensure equipment is kept up-to-date and budgets are met.
Compare costs and best value of equipment repair including contracting outside vendors, using in-house labor or equipment replacements to ensure the most cost effective choices are made.
Oversee transportation of all equipment and obtain, as necessary, all moving permits, licenses, titles, and safety checks, as required by corporate policy, state and/or federal regulations, or client requirements to ensure compliance.
Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives including holding weekly safety meeting with staff to ensure a safe work environment.
Education
High School Diploma required
Some college preferred
Work Experience
Minimum of 3+ years experience in the management of construction equipment maintenance and staff, preferably heavy equipment and commercial trucks.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong supervisory skills and leadership ability.
Practical knowledge of the function, operation and maintenance of construction equipment and/or education & experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
General knowledge of construction practices (excavating, grading, paving, etc.)
Expert computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software and familiarity with accounting/financial software.
Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Base Salary Range:
$104,744.00 - $157,115.00 Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
