Position Overview:
Plans, layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and PLC controls by performing the following duties. Chosen Candidate must be willing to join the Operating Engineers Local 18 union within 60 days of starting employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, national and local electrical codes.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
Complete command of the automated control system, including data entry and the ability to interpret data on screen.
Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
Performs electrical and PLC troubleshooting

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
Must be comfortable scaling ladders and working with heights.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to The Shelly Company Manual of Safety Practices & Procedures.
Strict adherence to The Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the book of company policies.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas. Protective equipment required for this position: Safety Glasses, Tear away safety vest, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Hard Hat, electrically insulated gloves, Arc flash PPE, Ear muffs/plugs.
Qualification Requirements:
1-2 years of relevant experience
A basic understanding of 480 Volt 3 phase systems, AC/DC control wiring, AC motors
Troubleshooting various electrical equipment (AC/DC drives, motors and controls, VFDs) using standard test equipment
Education/Experience:
State electrician license or equivalent degree from college, technical school or military, or enrolled in state approved apprentice program.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer skill needed including the ability to use and understand Microsoft windows and office suite.
