Ledgent is currently partnering with a firm in the Denver Tech Center on a Direct-Hire search for a payroll coordinator!




Position Summary:

The Payroll Coordinator is essential to the efficient and accurate execution of multistate payroll, encompassing payroll tax reporting and payments. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws, and a strong sense of integrity. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, capable of handling multiple priorities, and proficient in payroll software and procedures.



Primary Responsibilities:



  • Manage the complete multistate payroll process, ensuring prompt and precise payroll execution, tax reporting, and payment submissions.

  • Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

  • Use payroll software to manage payroll activities, which include:


    • Collecting, reviewing, and approving non-exempt timecards.

    • Handling paid time off (PTO) balances, voluntary deductions (e.g., benefits, retirement contributions), and wage garnishments.

    • Performing payroll audits, validating payroll previews, and managing check distribution along with post-payroll reporting.


  • Process manual checks and manage payroll adjustments, employment changes, discretionary bonuses, and off-cycle payments (e.g., quarterly or annual bonuses or commissions).

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and work to resolve any payroll-related tax concerns.

  • Collaborate closely with external vendors and HR Business Partners to reconcile payroll data and ensure smooth processing.

  • Investigate payroll issues by gathering data, analyzing underlying causes, and proposing solutions.

  • Generate and distribute regular payroll reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end summaries.

  • Provide the Payroll Manager with updates on daily activities and any arising issues or concerns.


Qualifications:



  • 2-3 years of relevant payroll experience is required.

  • Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and strong prioritization skills.

  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local wage and tax laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and related payroll regulations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey payroll-related information to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
