About the Opportunity
This position is open with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
This position is classified as mobile (0 to 2 days) in the office per week; however, it is required that the candidates are within 2 hours' driving or train distance of Baltimore, MD for administrative hearings, team meetings and collaboration, as needed.
The mobile reporting option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.
The position reports to the Managing Counsel who is responsible for state regulatory matters.
The Legal department provides exceptional counsel that assures legal compliance and enables FirstEnergy to optimize business outcomes in all legal, regulatory and commercial contexts. The Legal department is involved in every major activity and initiative involving all entities of FirstEnergy Corp.
The State Regulatory Attorney will work directly with business units, department lawyers and outside counsel on regulatory matters and in proceedings before state regulatory commission(s). This individual will handle legal matters and projects to include advising internal clients with respect to relevant statutory and, requirements, and issues, and utility commission rates, regulations, orders and utility tariff and litigation and rulemaking proceedings, while involving a meaningful amount of legal writing. The attorney will have responsibility for their own case load and will have responsibility related to complex regulatory matters.
