Job Description:

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Computational Quantum Sciences and Quantum Information Theory

Departments of Computer Science and Physics

New York University Arts and Science

The Departments of Computer Science (Courant Institute) and Physics (Faculty of Arts and Science) of New York University invite applications for tenure-track positions in the general area of computational quantum sciences and quantum information theory with a goal towards developing algorithms for quantum computation and/or simulation of complex quantum systems.

We seek to fill up to two positions; interested candidates can apply at this link: https://apply.interfolio.com/158835

Successful candidates would hold a tenure-track assistant professor position that could be joint between CS and physics, or in one department with an associated appointment in the other. Candidates interested in a joint position with NYU and Flatiron Institute's Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ) should also submit their application at: https://apply.interfolio.com/155101

The openings are at the tenure track Assistant Professor level. The appointment can begin as early as September 1, 2025, pending administrative and budgetary approval.

More information about NYU Computer Science and Physics Department's research programs can be found at https://cs.nyu.edu and http://physics.as.nyu.edu respectively.

Pay Transparency Statement: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $89,000 - $129,000 if based solely in the Physics Department and $125,000-$185,000 if based solely in Computer Science. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in physics, computer science, or a related discipline, and one or more years of postdoctoral research experience is desirable. Candidates are expected to establish a leading research program in their field, as well as teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Application Instructions

Interested candidates should submit the following:

(1) a curriculum vitae including a list of publications,

(2) a research statement, highlighting current and planned research activities,

(3) a teaching statement,

(4) three confidential letters of recommendation (submitted through Interfolio), and
