The Fort Myers News Press and Naples Daily News, part of the USA TODAY Network, are seeking a visual journalist to cover Southwest Florida with high-impact multimedia journalism. This photographer/videographer will capture the people, the moments, the events, the environment, and sense of place that define our unique community.
The top candidate will have a nose for news, passion for storytelling and drive for getting the best shots. Experience with interviewing sources and being on the front lines of news coverage is critical. This photographer/videographer will be responsible for producing photos and videos for print, digital and social media.
Must be a self-starter with the skill, sense of urgency and creativity to identify and pursue compelling visual stories. The ability to write clear, accurate captions is also a must. Coverage includes urgent breaking news, sports, features, profiles, enterprise, and investigations. Must be a team player and collaborator and have a flair for making a connection with local audiences.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or the equivalent in experience and education.
At least two years' experience with professional photography and videography on multiple platforms; student publication work and internships will be considered.
Exceptional craftsmanship and technical skills.
Proficiency in photo and video editing software, such as Photoshop, Adobe Premier and Photo Mechanic.
Ability to track and respond effectively to audience metrics.
Experience shooting and editing with an iPhone.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure.
Flexibility and availability to work nights and weekends.
Experience building a brand on key social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok).
Command of journalism law and principles of ethical conduct.
A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance as required by state law.
